ASKED & ANSWERED: EVERYTHING FIRST-TIME USERS WANT TO KNOW

If you’re new to Dura-Crete Walls, chances are you have a few questions—maybe more than a few. Whether you’re a contractor, developer, or property owner exploring pre-cast concrete solutions for the first time, it’s natural to want a better understanding of how the product works, what makes it different, and how it fits into your project. At Dura-Crete, we know that clear answers make confident decisions. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions we hear from first-time users. From installation timelines to durability, cost considerations to customization options, this post will walk you through the essentials—so you can move forward with clarity.

What makes the Dura-Crete design different?

Dura-Crete Walls was designed to be both efficient to install and practical to maintain. Our tongue and groove slat design makes it easy to scale up or down, avoids unwanted sight lines and is safer to install than large-form panels. Additionally, our system is simple and cost effective to repair, should any accidents happen down the road – unlike traditional cast-in-place, masonry, or large-form precast panels which often go unrepaired due to prohibitive costs and can become a liability.

How much will I save by using Dura-Crete Walls?

Cost savings vary by product, scale, and location. We’ve seen customers save everything from $5,000 to $100,000+, it just depends on the project. In addition to upfront material cost, other important factors to consider are the speed of installation, savings in labor and long-term maintenance and repair advantages of the system’s design compared to traditional methods.

How tall can the Dura-Crete system span?

To date, Dura-Crete Walls has spanned as tall as 30 feet – but stay tuned for more updates!

How long does it take to construct?

Most standard sized dumpster enclosures can be installed within a day (maybe 2 if you’re new).

For screen wall applications, we would expect a properly equipped 3-4 person crew to be able about to dig 15 to 18 foundations per day, install 20-25 posts per day, and lay roughly 100 concrete slats per day. See our enclosure and screen wall installation instructions for more detail.

What styles and colors are available?

We offer 3 styles – Offset Block, Vertex, and Smooth – and 3 standard colors – Natural Gray, Coral Rose, and Mesa Buff designed to complement the majority of masonry tones. Custom colors are available upon request.

What footing/foundation does the system require?

A standard screen wall requires an 18”x48” footing at each post, however this may vary according to regional guidelines and product scale.

Enclosures can be installed directly on top of existing concrete as long as it’s at least 6” thick – no footing required.

What do I need to install a Dura-Crete wall?

Most applications can be installed without specialty equipment. We highly recommend the use of post markers or spray paint, guide string, wrench, level, epoxy anchoring compound, impact driver, hammer drill bit, skid steer (with forks and boom), scissor clamp slab grip (rated for 175 lbs.), chop saw, concrete saw blade, gloves and PPE.

I’ve seen pictures of different posts – what are the options to choose from?

Our standard post is galvanized steel. Additional options include painted or powder coated galvanized steel, concrete (up to 8’ tall), or galvanized steel with an offset block wrap. Talk to our team to determine what the best option will be for your application.
